Work After Studies

International students seeking to work in Australia after their education have to apply for the work permit from DIAC (Department of Immigration and Citizenship).

s in the US and UK, students who go to Australia for full-time studies can work up to 20 hours per week part-time. However, spouses of students can work for unlimited time, if the student goes for Masters level education. Spouses of other students can only work up to 20 hours.

Another advantage for the students is that they could obtain a Work Permit along with the student visa itself, for which the total fee is AUS $ 540 (may be changed from time to time)

All international students have to apply for and obtain Tax File Number (TFN) before applying for a job in Australia – even part-time job. Obtaining TFN is easy, since that can be done online, once the student reaches Australia.

When the student visa is received, the government lets one in on basis of temporary entry for study with the understanding that one will leave upon completion of course and before the visa will expire. However, Australia continues to have demand for foreign workers, and students that have earned a degree in Australia have a special work visa category. There are also several other visa categories open to international students, and Australia has a very straightforward path to permanent residency using a points system . If one wants to stay and work after one graduate, one must apply and obtain a work visa.

Here are a few of the categories of visa that are available:
  • 485 Skilled Graduate Temporary Visa - This visa is the most common option available to international students after graduating.
  • 442 Occupational Trainee Visa - Another option for international students, the 442 visa is for students to improve their work skills for up to two years while being sponsored by an employer.
  • 487 Regional Sponsored Visa - This visa provides a pathway for permanent residency while allowing one to work for 3 years and work in a specialized regional area
  • 887 Skilled Regional Residence Visa - The 887 visa awards one permanent residency and with this one can live and work in Australia permanently. One must have already lived in Australia for two years, have a year of work experience and have sufficient points.
  • 885 Skilled Independent Residence Visa - The 885 visa allows one to live as a permanent resident and work without needing to be sponsored
  • 886 Skilled Sponsor Resident Visa - The 886 visa allows an overseas student to apply for permanent residency and work while being sponsored by an employer.
Students Searching for a Job

Many universities and colleges in Australia provide a special service called "Job Access" that helps students to find a good position in the job market. Apart from that students can also find the jobs in newspaper, online and from events and job fairs.

There will be Employment Officer in many universities to help students look for part-time work, most of which is non-professional, such as waiting on tables, cleaning or sales. Students may find casual work picking and packaging fruits and vegetables on local farms but such work is not guaranteed.

In Australia it is very easy and also difficult as well to get employed for the international students. Many students are able to get a job after spending certain time, if they are good in speaking English. If you are good in speaking English earlier, then you can obviously find good opportunities. It is for sure that only immigrants can acquire a full time job.

Many tertiary institutions have a career service. They advertise job vacancies, help their students to find work and give information on writing applications and approved payment rates. Employment centers at institutions advertise a range of jobs. You can also find work through newspaper advertisements, an employment agency or the government's national employment service, Job Network.

Australian Workplace for International Students

Students can also get a job in their field of education and this will build a good platform for their career and helps them after completion of their academics. Even the country encourages the students with preceding professional skills. There is high possibility for the merit students to get Permanent Residence in Australia.

Many universities and colleges are now accommodating the job market by changing the study curriculum in order to place the students in good positions. In this process, students will be recruited as a trainee during their final semester and after completion of their academics they will be appointed permanently.

About Italy

"Study in Italy" is a valuable information tool for students wishing to attend higher education (H.Ed.) programmes in Italy, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

This national website provides the following information: types of H.Ed. institutions (university and non-university sector), admission procedures, study programmes, university degrees, non-university H.Ed. qualifications (academic diplomas), tution language, student life and welfare services, country information, etc.

Links to other websites are also given, where even more detailed information on specific topics of individual interest is available.

Italy has a large and international network of public and state affiliated universities and schools offering degrees in higher education. State-run universities of Italy constitute the main percentage of tertiary education in Italy, and are managed under the supervision of Italian's Ministry of Education.

The website "Study in Italy" is a MIUR project, jointly carried out by the CIMEA of the Fondazione Rui and CINECA.

Why Italy?

Italy has played an important role in European higher education: it is one of the four countries that first engaged to create the so-called "European Area of Higher Education" (Sorbonne Declaration, May 1998), thus starting that type of higher education reform which, known as "Bologna Process" (Bologna Declaration, June 1999) is being implemented all over Europe.

Today Italy ranks among the 8 most industrialised countries in the world. Alongside some big companies, both state-owned and private, it has developed a sound network of small and medium-sized undertakings, promoted a few scientific parks, and is incentivating basic and applied research in a great variety of fields (biology, ICT, medicine, physics, etc.).

Process

Most teaching in Italy’s higher education takes place in large lecture halls, depending, of course, on the specific education course. Students in Italy are expected to complete a considerable amount of self-study outside the classroom in order to prepare for examinations.

Higher education examinations in Italy are held after the teaching period and are mainly oral, although some courses in Italy also require written tests. Each examination is offered on several dates from which students can choose. Students in Italy are also entitled to turn down a mark and re-take the examination if they are not satisfied with their first result.

The academic year in Italy is made up of two semesters. The first semester starts in September/October and ends in January/February. The second semester starts in February and ends in July. The actual start and finish dates of degree programs in Italy vary in every university, but each academic semester lasts for roughly 20 weeks, made up of a 14-week teaching period and a 6-week examination period.

Work After Studies

European Union (EU) students may enter Italy with a passport or an ID card and are entitled to work or study in Italy without a visa for as long as they wish. These students must, however, register with the Questura (police station) to obtain residence and therefore should ensure they have all the documents requested for this procedure before leaving their home country and entering Italy.

Non-EU students are required to obtain a study visa prior to entering Italy. Visa applications should be sent to students’ nearest Italian Embassy or Consulate. Always start these procedures well in advance of the intended date of entry. Visa procedures are subject to change, so it is worthwhile to contact the Italian Embassy for information to confirm current visa requirements. Non-EU students may work while they study in Italy if they obtain a work permit, which is quite difficult, so it is not recommended to rely on getting a job upon arrival to Italy.

Studying abroad in Italy is an exciting experience of meeting new people, seeing new places, and being surrounded by the Italian language. From the winding canals of Venice to the ancient splendors of Rome, students can experience a wide variety of novelties in Italy unlike anywhere else in the world. Before embarking on the adventure of a lifetime, there are a few things students should know when they decide to study in Italy. This in-depth Study in Italy guide includes information on all the in’s and out’s of an education in Italy, from the education system to the academic calendar as well as practicalities like costs and visas. Read on to learn more about education programs in Italy and prepare for an amazing study abroad experience!

STUDY IN Ireland

Ireland is the land of scholars and saints. When we consider greats like Jonathan Swift, George Bernard Shaw, James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Yeats etc., we know for a fact why this 'Celtic Tiger' is called so!

As far as education for International students is concerned, Ireland is an emerging country, which is now spreading its wings.

With students seeking new frontiers for higher education, Ireland has emerged as a very promising country because of two strengths - the medium of instruction and cheaper costs.

More attractive for students is the visa, which is easy to obtain than any other country's (at least popular!)

One strong reason why Ireland is also trying to attract more number of students is the fact that their population is not growing much and they would have a very low level of growth in further education, in terms of numbers.

The Department of Education and Skills, under the control of the Minister for Education and Skills, is in overall control of policy, funding and direction, while other important organisations are the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland, the Higher Education Authority, and on a local level the Education and Training Boards are the only comprehensive system of government organisation. There are many other statutory and non-statutory bodies that have a function in the education system. The current Minister for Education is Jan O'Sullivan, a TD for the Limerick City constituency

Admission is preferred either into the Bachelor's or Master's level by most Indian students to study in irealand. For both levels, a good academic background - minimum first class - and English medium instruction are required. If proficiency in English is not good, some universities do insist on having scores either from TOEFL or IELTS.

GRE is not required for admission into Irish universities.

Work After Studies

Have you recently finished your graduate studies in Ireland? Or are you considering starting a graduate course at an Irish university? The Irish government allows you to extend you permission to stay for 6 months to secure employment as part of the Third Level Graduate Scheme.

If you qualify for this scheme, you will be granted one non-renewable extension to your current student permission for a six month period starting on the day upon which they received your exam results. This scheme allows you to seek employment and gain a green card or work permit.

While you are at college in Ireland you are entitled to work up to 20 hours per week in term time, and 40 hours per week in holiday times.

You may be able to stay and work in Ireland after you graduate, but there are some restrictions. If you are a graduate from outside the European Economic Area, you can apply for an extension to your study visa for up to six months after you get your exam results. You must apply to the Garda National Immigration Bureau for this.

During the six month period you will be allowed to work for up to 40 hours per week without an employment permit.

After this, you will only be able to get employment in specific areas where there are skills shortages. These include information technology, healthcare and financial services. To stay in Ireland long term, you will need to get a Green Card or work permit.

What is a green card?

A Green Card Permit is an employment permit which allows you to work in Ireland with the specified employer in an occupation where skills shortages exist. It is issued for an initial period of two years, after which it can normally be renewed indefinitely. Your job offer will need to fulfil the following conditions:

  • The job pays over €60,000 a year
  • The job is in a restricted list of occupations, pays over €30,000 a year and is for at least two years.
Cost of the application: €1,000

A job offer with a bona-fide company registered for trading in Ireland is required. The permit allows you to apply for immediate family reunification and time spent under the permit can count towards permanent residency. There is no need for a labour market assessment test prior to applying for the permit. Either an employer or an employee can apply for the permit. The employee must possess the relevant qualifications, skills or experience for the desired employment.

What is a work permit?

Another way of obtaining employment is through the work permit system, but these are difficult to obtain as it will require a labour market test. This means that your prospective employer must comply with certain rules regarding advertising of the job position and confirm that no Irish national can fulfil that vacancy. You can find details on the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation website.

The job shall have an annual salary of at least €30,000 or below €30,000 for specific cases where the job fulfil some public interest.

Cost of the application: €1,000 up to 24 months

The MCI Test

The medical Council of India has a screening test for all students who may have studied outside India but intend to practice in India to judge their capability to do so. Please note this is not a competitive exam, rather just a screening test to understand the student’s capability to practice in India and identify parity with an Indian MBBS graduate. A student can appear any number of times for the Screening Test. However, students who pass the MD degree of an American System of Education more often than not clear this exam in the first attempt.

Employment Opportunities

The student is eligible for Government jobs, Private hospitals, and chain of hotels or private clinics as well in India. Should the Doctor plan to work in Russia, he can apply for a work permit and will be judged on his proficiency and professionalism.

Post Graduation

On graduation, the doctor is eligible to practise or study in any country he/she wishes to. He/she will have to clear the screening test of the individual country. PG degrees of only a few countries are accredited by the MCI (countries with English as first language like UK, USA etc.). Graduates from all our associated Universities are eligible for appearing in USMLE.

About Australia

Australia's Skilled Immigration Program is a permanent visa and falls under Skill Select points-based system. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they possess a qualification and the skills of an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List. The applicant has to meet the point's threshold by scoring 60 points and satisfying the basic visa criteria.

education in Australia consists of both government and private institutions. A higher education provider is a body that is established or recognised by or under the law of the Australian Government, a State, The Department of Education, Employment and work place Relation

There are 43 universities in Australia: 40 public universities, two international universities, and one private university.

In Australia, universities are self-accrediting institutions and each university has its own establishment legislation (generally State and Territory legislation) and receive the vast majority of their public funding from the Australian Government, through the Higher Education Support Act 2003. The Australian National University, the Australian Film, Television and Radio School and the Australian Maritime College are established under Commonwealth legislation. The Australian Catholic University is established under corporations law. It has establishment Acts in New South Wales and Victoria. Many private providers are also established under corporations law. As self-accrediting institutions, Australia’s universities have a reasonably high level of autonomy to operate within the legislative requirements associated with their Australian Government funding.

Australian universities are represented through the national universities' lobbying body Universities Australia (previously called Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee). Eight universities in the list have formed a group in recognition of their recognized status and history, known as the ‘Group of Eight’ or ‘Go8’. Other university networks of have been formed among those of less prominence (e.g., the Australian Technology Network and the Innovative Research Universities). Academic standing and achievements vary across these groups and student entry standards also vary with the Go8 universities having the highest standing in both categories.

Basic Features of the Australia Skilled Immigration Program

Australian permanent residents are residents of Australia who hold permanent residency visas but are not citizens of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Holder of permanent residency visas may remain in Australia indefinitely. A 5-year initial visa, which corresponds to the underlying migration scheme, is granted alongside the permanent residency. Until the initial visa expires, the visa holder may leave and re-enter Australia freely. A notable feature of the permanent residency visa is that, even after the initial visa expires, the holder is entitled to stay in Australia indefinitely without breaching immigration regulations.

After the initial visa expires, if the holder wishes to continue to travel to and from Australia as a permanent resident, they must obtain a Resident Return Visa.

Commended as a multicultural nation, Canada is highly valued in terms of being applauded as an eminent immigration destination. A democratic country in itself, the nation offers equal rights and freedoms to its people an aspect which is secured by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This ensures ample civil, mobility, democratic, legal, equality, language and political rights to people living in the country, on a legal basis.

This facet is further boosted by the fact that the nation is suitably attired with an ace publicly funded education system and leading universal healthcare facilities all of which keep its people satiated in every arena they link with. Next we come at the safety aspect, which is a definite shot facet of Canadian society. No wars, no violence just a peaceful place to live in and a perfect destination for those who are making peace as one of the much-needed facade in the country of their dreams, here Canada.

In Canada, the constitutional responsibility for higher education rests with the provinces of Canada. The decision to assign responsibility for universities to the local legislatures, cemented in the British North America Act, 1867, which was renamed the Constitution Act in 1982, was contentious from its inception. The Act states that "in and for each Province, the Legislature may exclusively make laws in relation to Education". As a result of this constitutional arrangement, a distinctive system of education, including higher education, has evolved in each province. The federal government's responsibilities in education are limited to the Royal Military College of Canada and funding the education of aboriginal peoples.

Basic Features of the Canada Permanent residency status:

A permanent resident is someone who has acquired permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada, but is not yet a Canadian citizen. Permanent residents have rights and privileges in Canada even though they remain citizens of their home country.

IELTS Listening test lasts for about 30 minutes. It consists of four sections, played on cassette tape, in order of increasing difficulty. Each section might be a dialogue or a monologue. The test is played once only, and the questions for each section must be answered while listening, although time is given for students to check their answers.

IELTS Reading test lasts for 60 minutes. Students are given an Academic Reading test, or a General Training Reading test. Both tests consist of three sections, and in both tests the sections are in order of increasing difficulty.

IELTS Writing test also lasts for 60 minutes. Again, students take either an Academic Module, or a General Training Module. Students must perform two writing tasks, which require different styles of writing. There is no choice of question topics.

IELTS Speaking test consists of a one-to-one interview with a specially trained examiner. The interview is recorded and has three separate parts:
